Ghost Mountain Revival Band

Ghost Mountain Revival takes the grooves and dynamics of hill country blues, Appalachia mountain music, and roots rock and turns it into what can best be described as Ozark Stomp. Kind of like if R.L. Burnside, Canned Heat and the Ozark Mountain Daredevils formed a band. At the core is Matthew J’s finger-style guitar playing that lays a pulsing bass line against rhythmic guitar riffs. Matthew utilizes a variety of tunings and techniques that keep the audience’s feet tapping and heads bopping through swinging blues shuffles, up-tempo foot stompers and soulful rockin’ tunes. And, Matthew J sings ‘em as he plays ‘em -- with deep passion and a big heart. Matthew J’s GMR music partner is Bill Thompson on harmonica. Bill’s 40 plus years of playing began in Chicago and he now brings that city’s blues harp tradition to the American music scene. Whether it’s laying down “organ-like” fills, percussive accents or high-energy solos, Bill's unique one of a kind style helps to make Ghost Mountain Revival a unique experience and satisfying musical brew. Ghost Mountain Revival can perform as a duo, trio or quartet and appeals to fans of Americana, Roots and Blues music both young and old
